“First 48” to Follow Jackson Police Detectives

|

Criminal defense attorney Chuck Mullins, a partner at Coxwell and Associates in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, handles felony and misdemeanor criminal cases including murders, rapes, burglaries, DUI’s, and drug cases in both State and Federal Court all over Mississippi. The reality show “First 48” announced that it would start filming in Jackson, Mississippi this summer due in large part to the city’s high crime rate. For some reason known only to God and the City of Jackson leaders, the City is going to allow this to happen! What great publicity for the City of Jackson! Let’s show America how violent our city really is! I wonder if the city leaders really thought this through. Here is the story:

The A&E reality show “The First 48” will tape an episode in Jackson, Miss., because of the department’s high homicide arrest rate, the Jackson Clarion Ledger reports.

The show follows police detectives during the critical 48 hours following a homicide and takes viewers behind the scenes of real-life investigations.

The show’s producers gain access to crime scenes, autopsies, forensic processing, and interrogations, according to the show’s Website. On Tuesday, the Jackson City Council agreed to allow the Jackson Police Department to be featured on the show.

Jackson Police Chief Tyrone Lewis said Jackson was chosen for an episode of the show because of the department’s high homicide arrest rate, which is 78 percent, compared to 50 percent nationally. Lewis said there are still some legal issues to be worked out with the show’s producers before the crews can begin shooting the episode in Jackson.
