Sideswipe Accidents

Sideswipe accidents are often traumatic and can leave victims in the hospital and out of work. Same Direction Sideswipe Accidents

Sideswipe accidents most commonly occur in cars or automobiles that are traveling in the same direction. For whatever reason, one car leaves his or her lane and enters the lane of another automobile. It’s possible that a car with an inattentive driver will begin to gradually drift into another lane. If you’re lucky, you notice before he hits you, give a warning honk and the driver moves back to his designated lane. If you’re not lucky, you get sideswiped. Depending upon how fast your cars are traveling at the time of the collision, you could be suffering from relatively minor injuries or catastrophic and life-threatening injuries.

Opposite Direction Sideswipe Accidents

In some cases, sideswipe accidents happen with two cars that are traveling in the opposite directions. These are also common with drivers who are not paying attention. This type of wreck can happen on a two-lane highway. There is little room for error on roadways with cars traveling at high speeds in both directions. All it takes is one moment of inattention for a driver to drift into oncoming traffic. In really severe cases, head on collisions occur. If the drifting was gradual or the driver catches himself or herself in time, they might only sideswipe you.
